He is who got out the unbelievers of the People of Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not expect that they will come out and they thought that their forts would protect them from Allah. So Allah’s command came to them from whence they had no idea and cast terror in their hearts that they destroyed their houses with their own hands and at the hands of the believers. So take a warning O you with eyes.

It is He Who expelled the infidels of the Book from their homes for their first assemblage, you did not imagine that they would go forth and they thought that their fortresses would defend them against Allah. But the command of Allah came to them whence they reckoned not, and it cast terror into their hearts that they destroy their dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the Muslims. Therefore take heed, O you, with eyes!

C'est Lui qui a expulsé de leurs maisons, ceux parmi les gens du Livre qui ne croyaient pas, lors du premierexode . Vous ne pensiez pas qu'ils partiraient, et ils pensaient qu'en vérité leurs forteresses les défendraientcontre Allah. Mais Allah est venu à eux par où ils ne s'attendaient point, et a lancé la terreur dans leurs coeurs. Ilsdémolissaient leurs maisons de leurs propres mains, autant que des mains des croyants. Tirez-en une leçon, ôvous êtes doués de clairvoyance.
