Have they not seen that We have destroyed many a generation before them whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you and sent torrential rain over them and flew rivers under them, But We destroyed them for their sins and created after them another generation.

Have they not observed how many a generation We have destroyed before them? We gave them such establishment in the earth which We gave you not, and We sent them rain in torrents and caused rivers flow beneath them, then We destroyed them on account of their sins, and after them raised up another generation.

Do they not see how many civilisations We destroyed before them, whom We had established more firmly in the earth than We have established you, and We sent on them abundant rain from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them? Nous avions envoyé, sur eux, du ciel, la pluieen abondance, et Nous avions fait couler des rivières à leurs pieds. Puis Nous les avons détruites, pour leurspéchés; et Nous avons créé, après eux, une nouvelle génération.
