When the forthcoming event does occur.

جب ہولے گی وہ ہونے والی

Then none will be able to deny its occurrence.

اس وقت اس کے ہونے میں کسی کو انکار کی گنجائش نہ ہوگی،

The event will be abasing some, and exalting some.

کسی کو پست کرنے والی کسی کو بلندی دینے والی

When the earth will tremble, shivering.

جب زمین کانپے گی تھرتھرا کر

And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits.

اور پہاڑ ریزہ ریزہ ہوجائیں گے چُورا ہوکر

So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light.

تو ہوجائیں گے جیسے روزن کی دھوپ میں غبار کے باریک ذرے پھیلے ہوئے

And you will become divided into three categories.

اور تین قسم کے ہوجاؤ گے،

So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right!

تو دہنی طرف والے کیسے دہنی طرف والے

And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left!

اور بائیں طرف والے کیسے بائیں طرف والے

And those who surpassed have indeed excelled.

اور جو سبقت لے گئے وہ تو سبقت ہی لے گئے

It is they who are the close ones.

وہی مقربِ بارگاہ ہیں،

They are in Gardens of peace.

چین کے باغوں میں،

A large group from the earlier generations.

اگلوں میں سے ایک گروہ

And a few from the latter.

اور پچھلوں میں سے تھوڑے

On studded thrones.

جڑاؤ تختوں پر ہوں گے

Reclining on them, facing each other.

ان پر تکیہ لگائے ہوئے آمنے سامنے

Surrounded by immortal boys.

ان کے گرد لیے پھریں گے ہمیشہ رہنے والے لڑکے

Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them.

کوزے اور آفتابے اور جام اور آنکھوں کے سامنے بہتی شراب

Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses.

کہ اس سے نہ انہیں درد سر ہو اور نہ ہوش میں فرق آئے

And fruits that they may like.

اور میوے جو پسند کریں

And meat of birds that they may wish.

اور پرندوں کا گوشت جو چاہیں

And gorgeous eyed fair maidens.

اور بڑی آنکھ والیاں حوریں

Like pearls safely hidden.

جیسے چھپے رکھے ہوئے موتی

The reward for what they did.

صلہ ان کے اعمال کا

They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin.

اس میں نہ سنیں گے نہ کوئی بیکار با ت نہ گنہگاری

Except the saying, “Peace, peace.”

ہاں یہ کہنا ہوگا سلام سلام

And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right!

اور دہنی طرف والے کیسے دہنی طرف والے

Among thorn-less lote-trees.

بے کانٹوں کی بیریوں میں

And clusters of banana plants.

اور کیلے کے گچھوں میں

And in everlasting shade.

اور ہمیشہ کے سائے میں

And in perpetually flowing water.

اور ہمیشہ جاری پانی میں

And plenty of fruits.

اور بہت سے میووں میں

That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped.

جو نہ ختم ہوں اور نہ روکے جائیں

And raised couches.

اور بلند بچھونوں میں

We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development.

بیشک ہم نے ان عورتوں کو اچھی اٹھان اٹھایا،

So made them as maidens.

تو انہیں بنایا کنواریاں اپنے شوہر پر پیاریاں،

The beloved of their husbands, of one age.

انہیں پیار دلائیاں ایک عمر والیاں

For those on the right.

دہنی طرف والوں کے لیے،

A large group from the earlier generations.

اگلوں میں سے ایک گروہ،

And a large group from the latter.

اور پچھلوں میں سے ایک گروہ

And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left!

اور بائیں طرف والے کیسے بائیں طرف والے

In scorching wind and boiling hot water.

جلتی ہوا اور کھولتے پانی میں،

And in the shadow of a burning smoke.

اور جلتے دھوئیں کی چھاؤں میں

Which is neither cool nor is for respect.

جو نہ ٹھنڈی نہ عزت کی،

Indeed they were among favours before this.

بیشک وہ اس سے پہلے نعمتوں میں تھے

And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief).

اور اس بڑے گناہ کی ہٹ (ضد) رکھتے تھے،

And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?”

اور کہتے تھے کیا جب ہم مرجائیں اور ہڈیاں ہوجائیں تو کیا ضرور ہم اٹھائے جائیں گے،

“And also our forefathers?”

اور کیا ہمارے اگلے باپ دادا بھی،

Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.”

تم فرماؤ بیشک سب اگلے اور پچھلے

“They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.”

ضرور اکٹھے کیے جائیں گے، ایک جانے ہوئے دن کی میعاد پر

Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers –

پھر بیشک تم اے گمراہو جھٹلانے والو

You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree.

ضرور تھوہر کے پیڑ میں سے کھاؤ گے،

Then will fill your bellies with it.

پھر اس سے پیٹ بھرو گے،

And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water.

پھر اس پر کھولتا پانی پیو گے،

Drinking the way thirsty camels drink.

پھر ایسا پیو گے جیسے سخت پیاسے اونٹ پئیں

This is their reception on the Day of Justice.

یہ ان کی مہمانی ہے انصاف کے دن،

It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth?

ہم نے تمہیں پیدا کیا تو تم کیوں نہیں سچ مانتے

So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge?

تو بھلا دیکھو تو وہ منی جو گراتے ہو

Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create?

کیا تم اس کا آدمی بناتے ہو یا ہم بنانے والے ہیں

It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten –

ہم نے تم میں مرنا ٹھہرایا اور ہم اس سے ہارے نہیں،

In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know.

کہ تم جیسے اور بدل دیں اور تمہاری صورتیں وہ کردیں جس کی تمہیں حبر نہیں

And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder?

اور بیشک تم جان چکے ہو پہلی اٹھان پھر کیوں نہیں سوچتے

So what is your opinion regarding what you sow?

تو بھلا بتاؤ تو جو بوتے ہو،

Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it?

کیا تم اس کی کھیتی بناتے ہو یا ہم بنانے والے ہیں

If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out.

ہم چاہیں تو اسے روندن (پامال) کردیں پھر تم باتیں بناتے رہ جاؤ

That, “We have indeed been penalised!”

کہ ہم پر چٹی پڑی

“In fact, we were unfortunate!”

بلکہ ہم بے نصیب رہے،

So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink?

تو بھلا بتاؤ تو وہ پانی جو پیتے ہو،

Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend?

کیا تم نے اسے بادل سے اتارا یا ہم ہیں اتارنے والے

If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks?

ہم چاہیں تو اسے کھاری کردیں پھر کیوں نہیں شکر کرتے

So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle?

تو بھلا بتاؤں تو وہ آگ جو تم روشن کرتے ہو

Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create?

کیا تم نے اس کا پیڑ پیدا کیا یا ہم ہیں پیدا کرنے والے،

We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle.

ہم نے اسے جہنم کا یادگار بنایا اور جنگل میں مسافروں کا فائدہ

Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest.

تو اے محبوب تم پاکی بولو اپنے عظمت والے رب کے نام کی،

So I swear by the setting places of the stars.

تو مجھے قسم ہے ان جگہوں کی جہاں تارے ڈوبتے ہیں

And that is indeed a tremendous oath, if you understand.

اور تم سمجھو تو یہ بڑی قسم ہے،

This is indeed the noble Qur’an.

بیشک یہ عزت والا قرآن ہے

Kept in a secure Book.

محفوظ نوشتہ میں

None may touch it, except with ablution.

اسے نہ چھوئیں مگر باوضو

Sent down by the Lord Of The Creation.

اتارا ہوا ہے سارے جہان کے رب کا،

So is this the matter regarding which you laze?

تو کیا اس بات میں تم سستی کرتے ہو

And you make its denial your share?

اور اپنا حصہ یہ رکھتے ہو کہ جھٹلاتے ہو

So why was it not, when the soul reaches up to the throat, –

پھر کیوں نہ ہو جب جان گلے تک پہنچے

Whereas you watch at that moment!

اور تم اس وقت دیکھ رہے ہو

And We are nearer to him than you are, but you cannot see.

اور ہم اس کے زیادہ پاس ہیں تم سے مگر تمہیں نگاہ نیں

So why is it not, that if you are not to be repaid, –

تو کیوں نہ ہوا اگر تمہیں بدلہ ملنا نہیں

That you bring it back, if you are truthful?

کہ اسے لوٹا لاتے اگر تم سچے ہو

Then if the dying one is of those having proximity, –

پھر وہ مرنے والا اگر مقربوں سے ہے

Then is relief, and flowers – and Gardens of peace.

تو راحت ہے اور پھول اور چین کے باغ

And if he is of those on the right, –

اور اگر دہنی طرف والوں سے ہو

Then upon you is the greetings of peace (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), from those on the right.

تو اے محبوب تم پر سلام دہنی طرف والوں سے

And if he is from the deniers, the astray, –

اور اگر جھٹلانے والے گمراہوں میں سے ہو

Then his reception is the hot boiling water.

تو اس کی مہمانی کھولتا پانی،

And a hurling into the blazing fire.

اور بھڑکتی آگ میں دھنسانا

This is indeed an utmost certainty.

یہ بیشک اعلیٰ درجہ کی یقینی بات ہے،

Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest.

تو اے محبوب تم اپنے عظمت والے رب کے نام کی پاکی بولو
